FROM SUE

Privacy Policy

A plain-language note about what this site stores and what happens when you contact Sue.

This policy covers fromsue.com. Sue Zi is responsible for the personal information handled through From Sue. For privacy questions or requests, contact [email protected]. Our Privacy & Data Requests page explains how to request access, correction or deletion.

From Sue does not require an account or collect payments. Saved recipe identifiers, checklist ticks and language preferences remain in your browser's local storage so the tools remember your choices on this device. We do not send your saved list or checklist to a From Sue account database. See Cookies & Browser Storage for the storage names and controls.

When you email us

If you contact us, your email address and message are handled by your email provider and the recipient mailbox so we can reply. Please do not include sensitive personal or health information.

Newsletter

If you request kitchen notes, we send your email address to Brevo to deliver a confirmation message. Your subscription starts only after you confirm. Brevo stores the subscription and unsubscribe status and delivers our welcome message and newsletters. You can unsubscribe using the link in an email or contact [email protected] about your subscription data.

Cloudflare Turnstile checks newsletter requests to help prevent automated abuse. It may process technical browser and network information for this security check. Newsletter API keys remain on the server and are not exposed to visitors.

Recipe ratings

If you rate a recipe, we store your star rating, the recipe identifier, submission time and a salted hash of your network IP address, not the raw IP. This limits each network to one submission per recipe every 24 hours. A later submission updates the existing rating rather than adding another vote. These records remain stored while the recipe rating service operates; contact [email protected] with privacy questions.

Cookies and analytics

There are no automatic analytics pop-ups. We use Google Analytics by default on fromsue.com after the page loads, unless you have turned it off or your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. You can change this setting below. We also use cookieless Cloudflare Web Analytics.

Analytics preferences

Google Analytics is on by default to measure recipe visits and sources such as Pinterest. You can turn it off below. Advertising features stay off. Privacy policy

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand page visits and loading performance. Cloudflare collects page-view and timing metrics without analytics cookies or cross-site visitor tracking. We do not use advertising cookies.

Cloudflare keeps unsampled analytics data for 7 days, then samples data for longer-term reports. We can view reports for the previous six months. You can read more in Cloudflare's data collection documentation and its analytics FAQ.

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand visits, referring websites such as Pinterest, and campaign links. Google receives page and browser information and may set first-party analytics cookies (_ga and _ga_*), configured here to expire after 180 days. This is not fully anonymous measurement. Turning analytics off does not affect recipes or other site features. Google advertising storage, advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled in our integration.

When you change the setting, we store your analytics choice on this device for up to 180 days. We keep an existing saved refusal in effect for that period. Turning analytics off disables further collection from this integration and removes its analytics cookies. We also respect browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. Browser privacy tools can block analytics, so reports do not count every visit. See Google's privacy policy. Account-level data retention is controlled in our Google Analytics property, separately from these browser cookie settings.

Translation

The site is in English by default and does not automatically detect your language. Translation runs only if you choose a language in the translation control. When you opt in, GTranslate and Google receive the visible page text and technical request data needed to provide the translation. Your chosen language is saved in this browser's local storage; clearing this site's local storage resets the saved language preference.

Service providers and retention

Cloudflare hosts the site and its rating service and processes technical network and request information to deliver and protect it. Brevo handles newsletter subscriptions and delivery. Google provides analytics, and GTranslate/Google provide optional translation. Our email providers handle messages sent to the published contact addresses. Those services can process information in countries other than yours under their own service arrangements and policies. A server's location alone does not identify every place a provider processes data.

We retain correspondence while it is needed to answer the enquiry, handle a dispute or keep a relevant support record. Newsletter subscription and suppression records support sending and respecting unsubscribe choices; ask us to review deletion separately from unsubscribing. Rating records remain while the rating service operates, subject to applicable rights and any need to prevent abuse. Cloudflare's analytics period appears above. GA4 account-level event retention and providers' infrastructure log periods are separate settings, not fixed by this website's cookie expiry.

We do not publish private email messages as comments or sell our newsletter mailing list. We share information with the providers needed to run these features, and may need to disclose or preserve records when the law requires it or to address abuse or a legal claim. We do not use the recipe tools to make legal or similarly significant automated decisions about you.

Purposes and applicable legal grounds

We ask for consent before subscribing you to kitchen notes. We use analytics to measure site use and referral sources, with the controls described above. Cookie and data-protection requirements depend on your location; the availability of an opt-out does not replace consent where the law requires it. For correspondence, requested site features, corrections and service security, we rely on our legitimate interests where applicable, subject to your rights. We may also process information to meet a legal obligation. You can withdraw newsletter consent without changing the lawfulness of earlier processing.

Children

The site provides general cooking information and does not offer children's accounts or a children's mailing list. If you believe a child has sent us personal information without appropriate permission, contact support with enough detail for us to review it. Please do not include more information about the child than we need to locate the record.

Your choices

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct or erase information, restrict or object to processing, obtain portable data, withdraw consent, or complain to a relevant data protection authority. Our request instructions explain how to contact us, verification and response timing. Rights can have exceptions; we will explain a refusal rather than promise automatic deletion of every record.

You can clear device-only preferences in your browser, unsubscribe through a newsletter email, and turn analytics off using Analytics preferences in the footer. These are separate controls. Deleting browser data does not delete a newsletter subscription, a server-side vote or information already collected by a provider.

Security and policy changes

We use HTTPS, server-side credentials and limited access to operate the site. No website or email channel can guarantee complete security. Do not email passwords or identity documents with an initial enquiry. We update this policy when the site's practices change and show the review date below.
