Cookies & Browser Storage

From Sue uses browser storage for recipe tools and your preferences. Cookies and local storage are different technologies. Cookies can accompany network requests; local storage remains available to scripts on the site. You can remove both through your browser's site-data settings.

Recipe tools and language choices

• Saved recipes: from-sue:favorites stores recipe identifiers in local storage so your saved list remains on this device.
• Ingredient checklists: from-sue:ingredients:<recipe-slug> in local storage remembers the ingredients you tick. It does not create a named account or shopping profile on our server.
• Translation: from-sue.language remembers a language you choose. The translation provider may also use __GT_TRANSLATE_LANGS. Returning to English removes the preferences controlled by our language switcher.

These local preferences have no automatic expiry in our application and remain until you remove them, change them, or your browser clears them. Translation services load only after you choose a non-English language or return with that saved choice.

Google Analytics and your choice

Google Analytics 4 is on by default on the main site, unless you have turned it off or your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. It loads after the page finishes loading, with an additional delay. Our integration sets the first-party cookies _ga and _ga_* to help distinguish visits and sessions. We configure a maximum lifetime of 180 days without extending that lifetime on each visit. Your browser can shorten this period. This measurement is not fully anonymous.

We store your allow/refuse choice in fromsue.analytics.v1 in local storage and recognise it for up to 180 days. You can change it using Analytics preferences. Refusing does not disable recipes or the newsletter. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals keep our Google Analytics integration off.

We do not show automatic analytics pop-ups. You can turn Google Analytics off or on using the controls on our privacy page, linked from the footer. We keep an existing saved refusal in effect for up to 180 days. Cookieless Cloudflare Web Analytics is separate from this choice. An opt-out does not replace consent where applicable law requires it.

Withdrawal stops further collection from our integration and clears its analytics cookies. Clearing a cookie does not remove analytics already collected. Use our data request instructions for questions about past information. Google controls account-level analytics retention separately from browser cookie expiry.

Cookieless analytics and security

Cloudflare Web Analytics measures page visits and loading performance without analytics cookies. Our hosting and newsletter security providers also process technical request information. Cloudflare Turnstile loads when you use the newsletter form to help check for automated abuse; security checks may use browser storage or security cookies depending on the check. We do not classify these as advertising analytics.

Links to other services

Instagram and Pinterest links open those services when you click them. We do not embed their social tracking SDKs in the footer. Those services apply their own storage and privacy rules after you visit them.

To clear device preferences, open your browser's settings for fromsue.com and clear cookies and site data. Doing so can reset your saved recipes, checklist ticks, language and analytics choice. It will not unsubscribe you from email or delete records held on our servers.
